There are quite a lot of changes in the planning for Ruwebit in 2006. A new hosting provider, everything in English and.. maybe a new Snappixx release??
Hi people. The webmaster is speaking here. I've got some plans for RuweBit in the coming year, twothousandandsix. Behold...
RuweBit will move to a thirdparty hoster I've hosted RuweBit privately for over 6 years now. It survived three hack attempts, two harddisk crashes, a motherboard burn-out and six different servers. But because of the lower hosting prices I now finally find it is time to move it to move over to a thirdparty hoster, called
http://www.webreus.nl.
I already did some testing: the PHP scripts are compatible and page response and load time will drop by a factor 3 to 4. The uptime should be 99.9 according to the hoster. If you are looking for a hosting provider, please mail
webmaster(at)ruwebit(dot)net (because RuweBit.NET gets 50 MB from
http://www.webreus.nl for each new client).
English as a first lanuage From 2006 all new articles will be written in English (now some articles are in Dutch and some in English). A substantial number of visitors of RuweBit comes from and English speaking nation. Almost all Dutch visitors also speak English, so English it will be.
Introduction of a commenting system For a better feedback I want to introduce a commenting system to let users respond to articles.
RuweBit Party RIP200666 The RuweBit Party for 2005 (RIP200V) has been cancelled unfortunately, but... in 2006 there will be a RIP200666 party for RuweBit core members. RIP stands for Ruwebit In Progress by the way.
Snappixx Final? Maybe and I said maybe there will be another release of Snappixx in 2006. I will go through the forum to see what feature requests are pending, I will investigate if Snappixx still works with newer Nikon cameras and then, if I've got time I will maybe (and again, I said maybe) release a new Snappixx version.
Maurice.
