With the QTek 8310 comes the application 'ClearVue Suite'. ClearVue Suite is a collection of programs to view Word documents, PowerPoint presentation, Excel worksheets and PDF files. A very handy tool for your Smartphone. However, it can only be installed in the phone's memory...
This article uses the QTek 8310 as an example, but is will probably also work with other Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone device.
Installing ClearVue on Storage Card
Luckily I came across the following site: http://www.tleone.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=56&Itemid=59. It explains how to install the ClearVue Suite on a Storage Card.
Well, Ruwebit wouldn't be Ruwebit if we didn't simplify it for you. But please note: to install the cab file your phone needs to be application unlocked!
Uninstall ClearVue Suite if you have installed it
Install ClearVue Suite again, but choose Storage Card as destination
Rename the Windows directory on your Storage Card to ClearVue Suite
Move the ClearVue Suite directory to \Storage Card\Program Files (if the 'Program Files' directory on your Storage Card doesn't exist, then first create it)
Create shortcuts to all EXE files and move them to the 'Windows\Start Menu' directory
And now as a special Ruwebit service:
Download this cabfile
Copy it on your device
Run it
That's it. You are welcome. This cab-file also fixes some registration problems in the original ClearVue cab-file.
ClearVue on different ROM
When you have installed an I-Mate SP5 ROM on your QTek 8310 (or vice versa), the ClearVue Suite would install anymore, because it checks the CID of your phone at installation.
If you had backed up the ClearVue Suite before you upgraded your ROM, you wouldn't have a problem (check is only done at installation). Then you only had to change some registry settings. If you didn't back it up... well then here is the solution. You only have to rename 100+ files...
!!! DISCLAIMER !!! Only do this when you own the original ClearVue suite, supplied with your phone. Don't do anything illegal and respect ClearVue's terms. And I'm not responsible yadda yadda... |
Follow these steps:
Use WinZip to unpack the original CAB-file to a separate directoy. You will see an _setup.xml file and *.000, 001 etc files.
Open the _setup.xml file. You will see some lines, like:
<characteristic type="WTAutoSh.dll" translation="install">
<characteristic type="Extract">
<parm name="Source" value="WTAutoSh.002" /> |
The filename after 'value=' is the original filename, the filename after 'type=' is the filename it has to become. So rename all files. In the example above you have to rename WTAutoSh.002 to WTAutoSh.dll
Do this for every file, except 000 and 999.
Copy all files to your Smartphone's Storage Card\Program Files\ClearVue Suite directory. Create the directories if they don't exist. Do not copy the *CIDCheck.dll, *.000 and *.999 files.
Recreate the shortcuts to the EXE file and move them to the 'Windows\Start Menu' directory
Download this cabfile, copy it to your device and run it.
