Please note: last state of the art is that I have deeped-fry my PS2 during adjusting the DVD laser. Lasted me all too long (from each other - in each other - tests) and in haste I short circuit has then made. I have now PSTwo where I have built in the matrix. Works perfectly.

This is no complete tale concerning how you can Playstation 2 chipmodden, but it contains a picture report of my experiences and skilful left indicate you in the correct direction.

Infinity and beyond
Used the chip is a matrix Infinity of the company InfinityMod.

Infinity and beyond

Why that chip? Purely because of the price/performance proportion. You have the chip for somewhere between the 35~40 euro (for example at www.hotbit.nl) and he is possible much:

Game of backup PS1/PS2 games on rr R and DVD (boat automagisch)
Also DVD-9 (dual layer) support for e.g. Gran Turismo 4
Region free DVD (with green fix and macrovision beveiliging from)
Support for booten as from memorycard
Support for booten as from harddisk
Flash memory for firmware updates
Support for PSX import spells (also NTSC) in full screen and full color
Support for anti-mod PSX spell
Support for datel 16 MB memory cards (usb)
Stealth and sleepmode (prevents detection of chipmod, e.g. at online games)
Quick load option for Playstation logo at skippen by boat
Needs ' but ' 18~20 wires

To repair
I had repair firstly my PS2 (lens/laser problem: could read no PS2 CD's more) and refurbishen (a kilo and its remove shag). Here are very skilful guides for written.

On Overnet/Edonkey found I a good guide about this: EBooks - Playstation 2 Repair Guide.pdf. It was a time-consuming job and a lot demotivating as long as it does not work, but eventually adjusting the laser succeeded.

Oja, indicated carefully with the different flatcables, especially which of the eject/power buds.

Chipmod
After I had repaired also the gamecontroller (inconceivable that there are people that technique onrespectvol have this way treated) I a matrix Infinity on the head has tapped. On Speurders.nl I, found someone who PS2's converted, kilometre still no of my house. He want also a loose chip and material sell (himself do you save already rapidly 60 euro).

Material? Yes, because beside the chip you and very very thin wire has very terrible thin tin necessary. I believe something of 0.1mm in doorsnede ofzo.

The wires to 3.3V and GDN double carry out (or thicker uses)

Beside above material need you also a soldeerbout of 10~15W and stiftje with a complete tapering walking up to point. That is not find almost, but that is possible you best yourself files.

On the matrix Infinity site several diagrams are find for the different PS2 models (because are there at moment of letter about 12 different PS2 models plus the new PStwo. At the PStwo is as a matter of fact pay attention, because to occur that you blow up the laser you must still what extra to do.

If you want know which PS2 version you have you must look at here just as.

Important tip
Keep the cables this way short possible!

Firmware
Care also even that you have the last firmware. With what other skilful tools can find you that to matrix infinity site (to see above). Below also a snapshot stands:

InfinityFW15.zip
InfinityManagerV1_36_00.zip
Dev2Installv10.zip
